Director of Kiwanis Programs

Department:Kiwanis Programs
Description:Responsible for providing the overall leadership, direction and support for the Kiwanis-branded service and leadership development programs for youth and young adults.
Duties:
    Leadership Team:
  1. Work closely with the members of the Leadership Team to ensure the appropriate level of cross-functional coordination with other departments by discussing special projects, timelines and issues impacting the organization
  2. Participate in meetings of the Leadership Team to achieve the strategic objectives of the Organization and the International Office
  3. Collaborate on new ideas and solutions for current organization and department issues
  4. Understand interdependencies and requirements across the Organization to provide quality and efficient service to both internal and external customers

    Global Impact Team:
  5. Work closely with the members of the Global Impact Team to develop supporting goals, strategies, plans and budgets in order to achieve the vision, mission, and strategic objectives of the Organization and the International Office
  6. Participate in Global Impact Team meetings and daily huddles
  7. Provide department status updates
  8. Ensure coordination of communications across the Global Impact Team
  9. Identify, address and resolve Global Impact Team issues

    Department Responsibilities:
  10. Responsible for the supervision and management of the department and staff
  11. Provide communication, direction and leadership based on Executive Management Team and Global Impact Team directives
  12. Carry out department activities to meet all business needs and requirements of the International Office
  13. Accountable for all communication developed and executed from the Kiwanis Youth Programs department
  14. Develop and manage department budgets
  15. Conduct department meetings
  16. Hire, motivate, recognize & reward, coach, counsel and train department staff
  17. Develop, implement and evaluate department performance measures
  18. Conduct performance reviews of all direct reports
  19. Responsible for supervision and oversight of the Kiwanis-branded service and leadership programs for youth and young adults, including Circle K, Key Club, Key Leader, Builders Club, elementary school programs, Aktion Club
  20. Accountable for all communications developed and executed from the department
  21. Oversight of Kiwanis-branded service and children’s programs including Kiwanis One Day, Read Around the World, and Young Children: Priority One
  22. Create opportunities for growth and partnership for Kiwanis-branded programs
  23. Responsible for aligned leadership curricula for the organization
  24. Coordinate cross-functional development and maintenance of leadership curricula for various Kiwanis programs
  25. Indentify and maximize internal and external resources in support of leadership program delivery
Qualifications:
    Educational Requirements:
  1. Masters degree in education, leadership, or equivalent

    Experiential Requirements:

  4. Capable of maintaining positive working relationships
  5. Strong communication and support abilities
  6. Ability to develop, present and deliver strategic program plans
  7. Developing Others
  8. Conflict Management
  9. 5-7 years of leadership development and training programs in high school, higher education or not-for-profit environment
  10. 5-7 years experience at a mid or senior management role with oversight of several department managers
  11. Experience in the training of youth and/or young adults (high school and college)
  12. Demonstrated creative ability and writing proficiency
  13. Good public speaker able to moderate small to large groups

    Skills Requirements:
  14. Microsoft Office Suite products
  15. Microsoft Outlook – utilization of calendar and management tools
  16. Internet Proficiency
  17. Social media networking

    Other Requirements:
  18. Doctorate degree a plus
  19. Kiwanis Family or service club experience a plus
  20. Domestic travel required
  21. Some international travel required
  22. Weekend work required
